Your data protection rights

Irish and EU data protection law gives you rights over information about you, whether or not you have an account here. Two of them you can exercise yourself in a couple of clicks. The rest are decided by a person, and this is the form that reaches them. You do not have to explain why you are asking, and you do not have to prove anything to send it.

Two you can do yourself, right now

A copy of your data — a file containing your account, everything you have submitted and every decision made about it. It downloads immediately.
Deleting your account — that page counts exactly what disappears and what stays before you confirm anything.

Both need you to be signed in, because both are about one account. If you do not have one, ask for the same thing on the form below.

What happens next

A person reads it. Nothing here is decided automatically and nothing happens to anything on the site until it is.
We answer within one month, at the address you give. That is the deadline the law sets, and it runs from when you send this rather than from when somebody gets to it.
If we need something more from you before we can act — including anything to satisfy ourselves the information is about you — we ask for it in that reply rather than up front.
If we decide not to do what you asked, we say why, and we tell you how to take it further.

If this is about a vehicle registration

This is not my vehicle — for a registration that has been misread, which is the common case. It marks the identification as contested straight away.
Object to reports about your vehicle — for when the vehicle is yours and you object to it being recorded here at all.

If you would rather not deal with us

You can complain to the Data Protection Commission at any time, and you do not have to raise anything with us first. The privacy notice explains what is held, why, and for how long.
